110 Days To Go!

Q + A

Here's all the things you need to know!

When do I need to RSVP by?

Please RSVP by June 1st so we can finalize our party planning!

What can we expect on the day?

We're so glad you asked! Think backyard garden party meets a 10 year old's birthday... In no particular order, you can expect... Lawn games (bucket golf, croquet, corn hole, and more!) Fun activities (including a giant puzzle, bird house painting, and an N64 tournament) AND some wild twists, featuring... battle balls, a bounce house, and mechanical bull riding!

What should we wear?

Before we answer that, make sure you read the 'What can we expect on the day' question above. As you can see, this is not the day for you to pull out your best tails and floor length gowns. We want everyone to be able to play hard right alongside us, so dress comfortably! If your outfit prevents you from getting on that mechanical bull, it may be the wrong choice. If you'd also prefer to bring a change of clothes, that would be welcome too! Note that most of the day will be taking place in our backyard, so we suggest cowboy boots or runners for footwear. Aerating our lawn with your high heels would be mildly useful for us, but probably no fun for you.

What about the weather?

As any good Calgarian knows, the weather here has a mind of its own. August 8th may bring scorching sun, or torrential rain all within the span of an hour. We're hoping for a sunny skies but anything can happen! Most of the day will take place outside (with the reception in a tent), so make sure you bring what you need. We will have an outdoor dance floor, so we suggest bringing a layer as the evening can cool down quite a bit. We will have coat racks when you arrive so you can store your layers for later. Based on historical data, the average daytime temperature sits around 24 degrees, with nighttime dropping down to 10 degrees.

Where should we stay?

We have a room block at the Marriott hotel in Seton which is about 15 minutes away from our place.

What is the transportation situation?

This is an important question! We will have limited parking at our place, so we strongly advise that you take advantage of the shuttle service we'll be providing. As we have a room block at the Seton Marriott, shuttles will be departing from the Marriott to our house (about a 20 minute journey) at 1:40pm, and 2:20pm. We suggest ubering to, or parking in Seton and grabbing the shuttle, or taking an uber/cab all the way to our place. Following the festivities, we will have shuttles departing back to the Marriott every 30-40 minutes beginning at 10:30pm. Note that Ubers/Cabs DO come out to our place, but expect that they will take longer than normal to arrive.

Can we just crash at your place?

You sure can, so long as you BYOSU (bring your own sleeping unit). If you have an RV, tent, or van and want to stay over we'd love that! We ask that you just please let us know in advance so we can plan space accordingly.

Who can I bring?

Please check your invite for your +1. If you have a new partner in your life that you'd like to bring just reach out to us and we'll adjust accordingly.

Are kids invited?

This day is all about US acting like giant kids, so we kindly ask that your children remain at home (with the exception of some immediate family). Selfishly we just want your undivided attention, and also don't want kids hogging the bounce house! If it looks like this may be an issue for you, please reach out to us!

What can you tell me about the food?

We will have a cocktail hour(s) following the ceremony with light hors d'oeuvres, followed by a family style dinner and a late night snack.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We will be serving a beautiful beef tenderloin for dinner (this is Alberta after all!). Please indicate on your RSVP if you have any dietary restrictions and we will be sure you are accommodated!

Do I need to bring any cash?

Only if you want to get a betting ring going on who can last 8 seconds on the mechanical bull. Otherwise, your drinks are on us! (And by 'us' we mean very kindly sponsored by Katie's parents Helen & Frank!)
